Grant Forrest to tee up for Scots

CRAIGIELAW’S Grant Forrest has been selected in the six-strong Scottish side for next month’s European Men’s Team Championship in Denmark.

As the reigning national champion, Forrest was in prime position to secure one of the amateur spots up for grabs in the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open at Castle Stuart. But, having followed up his title triumph in the SGU’s flagship event at Royal Dornoch by being the final Scot standing in the Amateur Championship in Kent last week, he will now be on international duty instead in a fortnight’s time.

Barassie’s Jack McDonald, who is also in the side picked for an event being played at Silkeborg. The European Team event will be pivotal in the selection of the Great Britain & Ireland side defending the Walker Cup later in the year and Forrest, winner of three national titles, is one of the Scottish contenders along with McDonald.

So, too, is Glenvervie’s Graeme Robertson, who is also included in the sextet along with Ewan Scott (St Andrews), Scott Borrowman (Dollar) and James Ross (Royal Burgess).
