Golf: Fisher nets a lifetime best

GEORGE FISHER set a score that will take some beating in the Lothians this season in a three-club competition at Ravelston.

The 52-year-old shot a net 47 playing off 24, having gone round in a gross five-over-par.

"He had the game of his life," said club manager Jim Lowrie. "He was a genuine 24-handicapper but has now been cut to 20." Fisher won by 13 shots and Lowrie added: "We've had some winning scores in the 50s but this is the lowest."
