David Drysdale delayed on his way to sun

DAVID Drysdale's escape to the South African sun has been put on hold after he was stranded in his Berwickshire home.

Scotland's highest-ranked golfer on the European Tour in 2009 had been due to fly from Newcastle to Dubai and then on to Johannesburg on Tuesday to prepare for next week's Joburg Open. But the severe winter weather caused chaos on the main A1 route south and Drysdale was left stuck at his Cockburnspath base.

The 34-year-old, who finished third in last year's Joburg Open, was hoping to travel to South Africa today.
