Coronavirus: European Tour suspends ticket sales for Scottish Open

Ticket and hospitality sales for this summer's Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open in East Lothian have been suspended until further notice.

The step has been taken by chief executive Keith Pelley for all of the events the European Tour promotes on the circuit.

"Due to the current ongoing uncertainty, we are suspending ticket and hospitality sales for all 2020 European Tour promoted events until further notice," said Pelley.

"This is a temporary measure, but one we feel is proportionate in the current circumstances."

Five European Tour events have already been cancelled due to the pandemic, with the next event on the schedule set to be the Andalucia Masters at Valderrama at the end of April.

"As important as golf is to all of us, public health and well-being is the absolute priority," added Pelley.

"That will remain the case as we continue to monitor this rapidly evolving global pandemic over the coming weeks, working with the World Health Organisation and each national

Government and their public health agencies to ensure we have the latest advice to inform all our decision-making."

Other events promoted by the European Tour include the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in September and the Betfred British Masters, which is due to be hosted by Lee Westwood at Close House, near Newcastle, in July.
