Golf: Title sponsor is Asset for Archerfield event

PROMOTERS of the Ladies Scottish Open, to be played at Archerfield Links in August, believe all the pieces are now in place for the event to be a resounding success.

Aberdeen Asset Management has been confirmed as the event's title sponsor and Andrew White, chief executive of WSM Sponsorship, is confident the whole package is now in place at the East Lothian venue.

"With Archerfield Links on board and a new (pro-am] format for the tournament, we are all very much looking forward to a successful Aberdeen ladies Scottish Open later this year," he said.

Aberdeen Asset Management have been one of Scottish golf's biggest backers in recent years. Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie is one of their ambassadors while the company also sponsors the Scottish men's amateur team.

"We are very grateful to have the support of this truly Scottish business for the 2010 event," added White. "Everyone involved has been working hard to ensure this event happens and is as big a success as in previous years."

After falling off the schedule for a long spell, the Ladies Scottish Open returned for two years at The Carrick on Loch Lomond but wasn't held in 2009.

Martin Gilbert, chief executive of Aberdeen Asset Management, said: "We remain committed to golf at all levels of the game and, as a company headquartered in Scotland, we are proud to support this prestigious Scottish event."
