Golf: Strachan wins

GORDON STRACHAN  returned to his roots to win his age group in the Silverknowes Senior Open.

The La Manga member claimed the 55-67 handicap honours with a net 71, beating host club pair Gordon Hamilton and Michael Pickup by one and three shots respectively.

Harrison’s Pat McCafferty took the scratch with an 83.
