Golf: Saltmans lose out on Tour

LLOYD SALTMAN should still secure a handful of starts on the European Tour next season despite failing to make the four-round cut in the Qualifying School in Spain.

The Archerfield ace finished down in 144th after a nightmare 79 that started with an eagle but was then littered with bogeys and double-bogeys.

It ended up being a painful return for Saltman to PGA Catalunya in Girona, where he had made history by graduating along with big brother Elliot last year.

Effectively, it means Lloyd – and Elliot, too – will be back on the second-tier Challenge Tour next year.

But, having finished 133rd on this season’s Race to Dubai, he is still likely to get into the odd event on the main Tour.

The same goes for Elliot, though he will be farther down the list after finishing outside the top 200 on this year’s money-list.
