JAMES ROSS, arguably the brightest prospect on the Capital scene, has chalked up his first success on the US college circuit.

The Michigan State student won the Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West, beating team-mate Chris Mory in a play-off after the pair had tied on 146, two over.

Royal Burgess member Ross, who first served notice of his potential when reaching the final of the Lothians Championship in 2007, has just started his second year with the "Spartans".
