Golf: Rookie Walker simply flying in Finland

Kylie WALKER and Vikki Laing made it a great opening day for the Scots at the Finnair Masters in Helsinki. Rookie Walker fired a superb seven-under par 64 to take a two stroke lead, while Musselburgh's Laing had a 69 and was tied for seventh.

Walker, a 23-year-old from Buchanan Castle, showed her promise with the best round of her eight-month professional career. The flawless seven-birdie round earned the two-shot advantage over South Africa's Lee-Anne Pace. "I thought turning professional was going to be easier," admitted Walker after the sparkling round. "But in my first few events I really struggled because of nerves."
