Golf: Renaissance Club Pro-Am raises £40,000 for charity

OVER £40,000 was raised when The Renaissance Club staged the European Tour Players Foundation Pro-Am for the second year running.

Lothians duo Stephen Gallacher and Andrew Oldcorn joined a host of their European Tour colleagues for the event at the Gullane venue.

"It is great to partner the European Tour's charitable foundation and to see so many tour professionals here supporting so many good causes," said Renaissance director of golf David Armitage.

"We are delighted to stage charity events such as these and give back through the game of golf. I also have to say that the event would not have been such a huge success without the generosity of our membership - we can all be proud of what we achieved."

Irishman Gary Murphy and Spaniard Rafael Cabrera-Bello topped the leaderboard with 68s, one less than Welshman Garry Houston.

Gallacher, who was playing for BFC Linlithgow Community Football Club, had a 70, as did fellow Scot Alastair Forsyth.

"The comments about the course and the event was overwhelming - all of the Tour players raved both about the design and condition of the course," added Armitage.
