Golf: Patrick's tee in the Park triumph

Edinburgh golfer David Patrick was today savouring his success in the Tartan Tour's inbuild Deer Park Masters.

The former European Challenge Tour champion closed with a four-under 68 for an 11-under 133 and won the 2835 top prize by a stroke from the 2008 Scottish PGA No.?1 Chris Doak.

Leading by a shot at the halfway stage, Patrick began his final round in spectacular fashion with an eagle-two on the first and he made further gains at three, four, seven and nine to charge to the turn in six under.

The Elie pro slipped up on the run-in and dropped shots at the 13th and 18th but the Capital man still held on for a narrow victory.

Former European Tour player Doak highlighted his final-round 67 with an eagle at the eighth as he banked the 2268 runners-up prize on a 134.

Carnoustie's Lindsay Mann claimed third on 136 after a 70 while former PGA Cup player Robert Arnott took fourth on 137.

In the team event, Edinburgh's 2001 PGA champion Andrew Oldcorn led the Valad amateur trio of Brian Donaldson, David Ewing and David Gardner to victory with a dazzling 20-under 52.
