Golf: Newlands Trophy glory for Dick in Lanark

KINGSKNOWE'S Allyn Dick won the SGU Order of Merit's Newlands Trophy 72-hole event at Lanark for the second year in a row.

Dick had scores 68, 66, 71 and 70 for a total of five-under-par 275. He won by one stroke from James White (Lundin).

Ross Noon (Craigielaw) was third on 277 (70-71-68-68) while Graeme Robertson (Glenbervie) tied with Sam Binning (Ranfurly Castle) on 278 for joint fourth place.

Dick took lead by three shots at half way but White produced a great third-round 66 to Dick's 71 to share the lead, three strokes clear of the field, going into the final round.

Dick edged out his rival over the last 18 holes with a par-matching 70 to the Fifer's 71.
