Golf: Midlothian women eye more glory

THREE members of Scotland's title-winning side in last week's Women's Home Internationals are back in action at the Scottish County Finals at Bothwell Castle over the next three days.

Craigielaw's Jane Turner and Rachael Watton of Mortonhall join forces in the Midlothian side, while Megan Briggs lines up for Renfrewshire in an event that also features Angus and Dumfriesshire. Midlothian, the East champions, open their title bid today against Renfewshire, then face Dumfriesshire tomorrow before closing their campaign against Angus on Sunday.

Joining Scotland stars Turner and Watton in Lanarkshire are Kirsten Blackwood (Craigmillar Park), Louise Fraser (Kingsknowe), Gabrielle Macdonald (Craigielaw), Karen Marshall (Baberton), Kate McIntosh (Broomieknowe) and Wendy Nicholson (Broomieknowe).

Claire MacDonald, who helped Midlothian reach the finals, misses out due to the fact she's in America.

Renfrewshire looked set to provide a tough start, with Briggs' team-mates including her younger sister Eilidh and Clare-Marie Carlton, who enjoyed a good run in this year's Scottish Women's Championship at Craigielaw.
