Golf: Lothians players in Bell's wake

Lothians players never threatened to catch Ross Bell (Downfield) who led the Standard Life Leven Golf Medal from start to finish and collected a £500 voucher, but five of them won prizes.

James Ross (Royal Burgess) finished a close-up third behind Bell (six-under 278) and runner-up Fraser McKenna (280).

Ross began with a two-over-par 71 but settled, despite the rain which was at its worst on Saturday afternoon and evening, to cover his remaining 54 holes in five under par with scores of 70, 70 and a bogey-free 68 for a total of 281. Ross won the Bronze Medal and a voucher for 300.
