Golf: James White prepares to defend his Universities title

JAMES White, a former Scottish Boys champion and current member of the Scottish Golf Union Elite Squad, defends the men's title in the Scottish Universities Championships, which get underway tomorrow over the Moray Golf Club's Old and New courses at Lossiemouth.

The Stirling student is the backmarker off plus three in the field, where he is likely to face stern competition from Stirling team-mates David Booth, a former Scottish Youths' champion, and Bobby Rushford, as well as Gordon Stevenson (St Andrews) and John Duff (Aberdeen).

Jane Turner (Robert Gordon's), Megan Briggs (Strathclyde) and Gemma Bradbury (St Andrews) are among the likely contenders for the women's title.
