Golf: Ian Randall stays on course to retain title

Holder Ian Randall defeated 2009 winner and clubmate Chris Milligan to reach the second round of the annual Sir Harry Lauder golf trophy when the match-play stages got under way at Portobello last night.

There were also successes for Walter Hastings and Gary MacDonald, winners of, respectively, the handicap and scratch qualifying, while six-times winner Duncan Ireland progressed at the expense of John Williams.

Home hopes include Kenny Craigie, who scored a credible effort, ending the day one under par for his round.
