Golf: Hall shows her maturity as she masters Gullane weather to reach semis

England's Georgia Hall, the youngest still in the field at just 15, showed some great form to reach today's semi-finals of the British Girls' Championship played in some horrendous weather at Gullane.

Hall beat Wales' 16-year-old Chloe Williams by 3 and 2 in the last 16 stage over the No.1 course and then swept past France's Emilie Alonso with some impressive figures in a 5 and 3 win in the quarter-finals. The Dorset golfer was three under par for the 15 holes.

"I played really well this afternoon," said Hall, who plays out of Remedy Oak. "The weather was terrible with wind and rain but I had four birdies and just one bogey. The match against Chloe was hard because she is one of my best mates."

The only British player in the last four, Hall, who took up golf at the age of seven, has a fine pedigree. She was an England Under-13 and Under-15 champion and was third in this summer's European Girls' Individual Championship in Sardinia.

In the semi-final, Hall meets Belgium's Margaux Vanmol, who ended the hopes of Scotland's Alyson McKechin in the second round. She trounced the other English hope, Sophie Godley, by 7 and 6 in the quarter-finals.

Celine Boutier retained hopes of becoming the third successive French winner with a one-hole victory over Germany's Antonia Scherer, while Sweden's Emma Nilsson had a comfortable 5 and 4 win over Spain's Luna Sobron.
