Golf: Gullane glee

GULLANE pair Jill McNicoll and Margaret Taylor won the East Lothian Ladies' Commonwealth Spoons event at the Glen.

They shot a net 69.5 to finish well ahead of second-placed host club duo Bobbi Paul and Nancy Davidson on 74, with North Berwick's Dawn Young and Gwen Stewart pipping Mary Lou Renton (Gifford) and Gill Ellis Pow (Royal Musselburgh) for third on a countback after they both posted 74.5.

McNicoll and Taylor are unavailable for the Commonwealth Spoons Final at Forres on September 22, but the second, third and fourth place teams will fly the East Lothian.
