Golf: Green shoots to the top

Australian Richard Green found himself in some illustrious company going into the second round of the Nordea Scandinavian Masters as joint leader at Bro Hof near Stockholm today.

Green set the clubhouse target yesterday with a five-under-par 67, but was joined later by South African Louis Oosthuizen, winner of The Open on Sunday, and American Dustin Johnson, the man who led the US Open by three with a round to go last month and then shot 82.

Among those only a shot behind overnight were South Korean KJ Choi and Scottish Open champion Edoardo Molinari, who with a top-two finish on Sunday could climb into an automatic qualifying spot on Europe's Cup table. That depends on how Luke Donald fares at the Canadian Open in Toronto.
