Golf: Foursomes foundation of Lothians win

LOTHIANS found their foursomes form to beat Borders 10…-4… in an annual friendly at Castle Park.

The hosts recorded a 5-0 whitewash in the morning before emerging victorious in a more closely-fought singles.

Steven Armstrong proved too strong against Paul Johnson in the top match after lunch, but Graham Roberston was outscored by seven birdies to five and eventually went down 2 and 1 to David Gillie in the best scoring match of the day.

Myles Cunningham secured a half with a birdie-3 at the last in his game, with further successes for the Lothians coming from stalwarts Keith Nicholson, Stuart Smith and Gary Corrigan.
