Golf: Ewen's roll

DAVID EWEN is on a roll, the three-time Dispatch Trophy winner having followed up his success in the World Deaf Championship by making a successful defence of the Carrickvale Open title.

Ewen shot a 69 to beat Silverknowes star Tam Caldwell on a countback, with Ewen's Dispatch Trophy partner, Allyn Dick, a shot behind alongside Paul Ross (Silverknowes).

Ewen also won the Kingsknowe Silloth recently with Craig Elliot and will represent Carrickvale along with Elliot, Dick and Michael Kanev in the Scottish Club Championship at the end of the month.
