Golf: Dryburgh on top form in Eyemouth

Florida-based Gemma Dryburgh won the battle of north-east competitors to reach the semi-finals of the Scottish Under-18 girls' golf championship at windy Eyemouth Golf Club yesterday.

Aberdeen-born Gemma, a student at the IMG David Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Florida, beat Peter- culter's Rachel Polson by 4 and 2. She now plays Kate McIntosh (Broomieknowe) who knocked out the No.?1 seed, Rachael Watton (Mortonhall) by 3 and 1.

The other semi-final features Lesley Atkins (Gullane) and Gabrielle MacDonald (Craigielaw). Lesley scored an upset 5 and 3 win over the No?2 seed and Renfrewshire women's county champion Eilidh Briggs (Kilmacolm).

Gabrielle beat Hannah McCook (Abernethy) by 3 and 2.
