Golf: Don't cry for Scots in Argentina

Scotland's golfers had to settle for a share of 28th in the women's world amateur team championship at the Buenos Aires club in Argentina.

Lothians ace Sally Watson signed off with a one-over 73 as Lesley Nicholson's side closed with a four-over 148 for a 14-over 590 to finish in the middle of the standings. South Korea romped to a second world title with a record-breaking 30-under aggregate of 546 and a 17-shot win over 13-time champions the United States. Defending champions Sweden shared third on 572 while Ireland led the home nations in a tie for 11th on 577. Wales also secured a top-20 finish on 581 while England finished 25th on 586.

lMATTEO MANASSERO became the youngest winner in European Tour history after triumphing by four shots at the Castello Masters in Spain yesterday.

The Italian, at 17 years and 188 days, breaks the record set by New Zealand's Danny Lee. Manassero overcame a two-shot deficit to England's Gary Boyd over the final round, his four-under-par 67 moving him to 16 under overall and comfortably clear of Spain's Ignacio Garrido on 12 under.
