Golf: Carson wins

MARRIOTT Dalmahoy's Robert Carson, who caddied for friend Mark Kerr in last week's Scottish Hydro Challenge, chalked up a fine victory in Edzell's 36-hole scratch Open.

He shot rounds of 74 and 69 over the Angus course, the latter being the best score of the day.

He was three-over early in that round but transformed it with five birdies and an eagle.

"It was windy and the course was playing quite tough," said Carson, who has put on hold his intention to turn professional.
