Golf: Campbell coup

MALCOLM CAMPBELL, a big-hitting left-hander, beat his own course record at Swanston New by firing a six-under-par 62 in winning a medal at the club.

Campbell, who qualified for the Lothians Championship earlier in the month, lowered the mark for the new 5,544-yard layout at the flourishing Capital club by two shots.

John Gallagher has done his bit to put Swanston on the map and now Campbell looks as though he could start to make his presence felt in some of the national amateur events.
