Golf: Cambridge flies off with pro-am prize

THREE former major champions were in the field for DJ Russell's invitational pro-am at Archerfield Links earlier this week.

Sandy Lyle, Ian Woosnam and Bob Charles were among the 100 competitors for the annual event, played on the Fidra Links, and they were joined by Wayne Grady, the Australian who nearly won the Open at Troon in 1989.

Delroy Cambridge led a team consisting of Stephen Crawley, Gavin Hamilton and Ian Norman to victory with a score of 89 points, their prize being transatlantic flights from Continental Airlines.

Former Ryder Cup player Peter Baker joined forces with George Sypert, Stanley Sokolowski and Mark Sokolowski to claim second spot on 87 points, one ahead of Grady.
