Golf: Bruntsfield Links help themselves to the Inter-Club title

BRUNTSFIELD LINKS are celebrating a second notable triumph in the year of the club's 250th anniversary.

It came in the Edinburgh Junior Inter-Club Tournament at neighbouring Royal Burgess, where the Davidson's Mains club beat Dalmahoy 2 and 1 in the final.

Stuart McLaren and Graeme Nisbet finished five up in the top match of the double foursome event with Bruce Scott and Murray Paterson limiting the damage to three down at the back. Elliot Ball was also in the Bruntsfield team that claimed the title for the first time since 2003 at the Merchants.

"To win it in the year the club is celebrating its 250th anniversary is marvellous," said junior convenor Mike Smith.

"Ian Morrison, the club captain, was over at Royal Burgess and was obviously delighted with the success. We've got a good crop of youngsters at the moment - they're all going the right way."
