Golf: Bowden brothers bring home some family silver

THE Ryder Cup-bound Molinaris aren't the only golfing brothers on a high at the moment - North Berwick siblings Euan and Neil Bowden have notched their own notable achievement.

They chalked up a family double in the East Lothian Junior Championship at Royal Musselburgh, where 15-year-old Euan and Neil, who is 13, won their respective age groups.

Both members at Tantallon and The Glen, Euan claimed a three-shot success in the under-18 event with a two-under total of 138 (68, 70), while Neil won the under-14 section with a 75.

"Euan has had a very successful season which built on the clubgolf coaching over the winter period with Martyn Huish, together with weekly tuition from Colin Brooks through the SGU Academy," said dad Gordon.

"His handicap is down to 2.5, having benefited from playing on Dean Robertson's Scottish Junior Golf Tour events with tremendous support from the Lothians.

"Neil has also performed to an excellent level throughout the summer, reducing his handicap to eight."

Both boys have had excellent support from the Lothians Golf Association which has covered diet and nutrition as well as weekly strength and conditioning classes.

"They have also attended psychology classes to support positive thinking," added Gordon.
