Golf: Best begins

MUSSELBURGH will tee off the first of five regional finals in this season's Belhaven Best Captains and Secretaries Championship.

Competitors in the East Lothian event next Tuesday are targeting a place in the grand final at Pollok in September.

Belhaven have also agreed a new deal with the Scottish Golf Union for the Scottish Club Handicap Championship. Baberton (August 5) and Bathgate (August 12) will stage regional finals ahead of the grand final (at St Andrews) in September.
