Golf: Back nine boosts Chaplin

DEER PARK'S Mark Chaplin claimed the Ian Ramsay Trophy at West Lothian - the opening event of the 2010-11 Edinburgh & East of Scotland Alliance season.

He won by virtue of a better back nine in a card play-off with Andy Marshall (Houston Driving Range) and Stevie Lamb (Broomieknowe) after all three players shot 67s.

Chaplin, who plays off scratch, came home in 32, helped by a brace of 2s at the 15th and 18th.

Marshall and Lamb shared the top prize in the scratch section, three shots ahead of Kingsknowe's Mike Robson, with Ryan Buckley (Craigielaw) and Scott Catlin (Greenburn) finishing joint fourth on 72.
