Golf: Adam Scott gives Singapore Open a miss

ADAM Scott will not defend his Singapore Open title and instead warm up for the Presidents Cup at the Australian Open in November, the world No 17 confirmed yesterday.

Both tournaments take place from 10-13 November - the week before the Presidents Cup clash - and Scott has decided to play in Sydney rather than Singapore, where he has claimed the title three times in the last six years. "It was a tough one for me," the 31-year-old told Australia's Channel 10. "(Sponsors] Barclays and the Singapore Open have been big supporters of mine, but the Australian Open is really tough to pass up and I am going to be playing in Sydney. I think it's the right move for me. I really want to get down there and win the Australian Open again."

Scott won his home open in 2009 and is relishing the chance of repeating the feat against a field including Tiger Woods and defending champion Geoff Ogilvy.
