Golf: A fitting tribute to Stuart .?.

THE family of a young trainee PGA pro who died in a road accident a year ago were delighted with the response to the inaugural event held in his name in Edinburgh on the weekend.

Thirty-eight children from the Lothians, aged between eight and 14, celebrated Stuart Hutchison's memory at Swanston New, the club where he played.

Organised by clubgolf, all abilities were encouraged to enter the fun competition for children who have just started playing golf, who don't have a golf handicap or who have just achieved one.

Eleven-year-old Emma Morrison from Craigmillar Park and Andrew Mundy, 14 from The Musselburgh Old, won the Stuart Hutchison trophies, for children with handicaps and both of them are on clubgolf stage 3 coaching.

There were other prizes for children in categories from clubgolf Stage 1 coaching and beyond.

"For a first time it was a superb response from the children and it was fabulous to see so many having so much fun," said Isobel Hutchison, Stuart's mum, after presenting the prizes with her husband David, daughter Lorna and grandson, Callum. "Hopefully this will be the first of many years."
