Glasgow soar over Ospreys as Edinburgh are downed

STAND-OFF Duncan Weir kicked 23 points as his Glasgow beat Ospreys 28-17 and inflicted a first defeat of the season on the RaboDirect Pro12 leaders at Firhill last night.

Edinburgh won the try-count 3-2 against Leinster at Murrayfield, with the prolific Tim Visser bagging a brace, but ultimately lost 36-28.

Proud Glasgow coach Sean Lineen said: “The second-half perfomance was pretty special. They had squeezed us. We had lost the kick and chase game and they got their penalties. We had to regroup and play the way we knew we could play. We needed another ten per cent in terms of intensity and we got more than that. It was very satisfying.”

The Ospreys arrived with six wins from six and led 12-6 but Weir’s boot and a try from lock Richie Gray after the break stunned the Welsh and the home side held on despite a late consolation try by stand-off Matthew Morgan, who scored all the visitors’ points.
