Glasgow get boost with signing of Aramburu

GLASGOW have made the high-profile signing of Argentina international centre Federico Aramburu, who will join the Warriors this summer.

Aramburu, 30, made his international debut against Chile in 2004 and has since won 14 caps, scoring seven tries, including one against Georgia in the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France.

Speaking on the new addition to his squad, Glasgow head coach Sean Lineen said: "Federico is a quality player with loads of experience, having played at international level and in France with Perpignan and Biarritz.

"He's coming here to play rugby and will add real quality and competition to our outside backs."

Aramburu did not play in the two-Test series against Scotland this month. He joins Glasgow from Dax in France, having played previously for Perpignan and Biarritz.

"Signing for Glasgow appealed to me because they are a club performing well in the Magners League and Heineken Cup," said Aramburu.

"The team enjoyed success in reaching the Magners League play-off last season and their future ambitions match my own.

"This year is an important one as the Rugby World Cup approaches so to play for a club that is performing well is essential."

Glasgow completed a hat-trick of signings yesterday with the recruitment of winger Colin Shaw and No 8 Ryan Wilson.

Shaw will rejoin the Warriors on a full-time basis having spent a year on an international sevens contract.

Having already made 45 appearances for Glasgow, Lineen believes Shaw is ready to fulfil his potential as a Warrior.

He said: "Colin has been on the Glasgow scene for a while now, so I'm delighted to see he's now realising his undoubted ability.

"He's been one of our most consistent performers when he's played and I believe that the best is yet to come from Colin Shaw."

Back-rower Wilson will join the Warriors from English Championship side Moseley, as reported in The Scotsman last month.

Lineen continued: "I was impressed with Ryan's attitude when he came up to speak with us.

"He's a big unit and wants to succeed. He will also further strengthen our back-row."
