A SUPERB second-half fightback from Fulham ensured visitors Wigan remain entrenched in the relegation battle.

The defeat leaves Wigan in 16th place, just four points clear of the bottom three while Fulham remain on course for another top 10 finish so coveted by manager Roy Hodgson.

Denied the services of top scorer Bobby Zamora due to an Achilles knock, Fulham's fortunes dipped further when the goal Wigan had threatened finally arrived in the 34th minute.

A deep cross from Mario Melchiot was knocked down by Marcelo Moreno for former St Johnstone striker Scotland to send a low drive into the net.

But Hodgson's half-time words of wisdom worked as Gera robbed Scharner on the left flank and his low cross towards the edge of the six-yard box was turned home by Okaka.

Fulham went 2-1 in front in the 58th minute when Damian Duff's corner was met by the towering frame of Hangeland, who directed his header into the net off the far post.
