Four schools will battle it out for final places in U18 quarter-finals

The two remaining Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools under-18 Cup quarter-finals are due to take place today.

Holders Edinburgh Academy will host North Berwick High School at New Field at 10.30am while last year's finalists Stewart's Melville College are taking on Dollar Academy at the same time at Inverleith.

However, both games may yet be moved to later kick-off times should overnight frost have affected either ground.

The two winners will go through to the last four to join George Watson's College and Merchiston Castle.

North Berwick High School travel to Edinburgh in fine fettle having defeated Hutchesons' Grammar 13-0 earlier in the month to reach this stage.

Coach Mike De Busk said: "The forwards played really well in horrible conditions against Hutchesons' and I was pleased with the performance given the long lay-off that we had had.

"Last year we lost to Edinburgh Academy (6-0 in round four] and the team are looking forward to taking them on again.

"We know it will be tough, but we will give it our best shot."

The hosts will look to Scotland under-18 squad scrum-half Alex Glashan to pull the strings, while captain Chris Dean is a strong runner in the centre.

The Stewart's Melville's team have not played a competitive match since the turn of the year but had a useful practice outing against Edinburgh Academy recently.

Seven of the squad - Jack Hannay, David St Clair, Alex Hagart, Charlie Taylor, Hugh Lindsay, Max Campbell and captain Ross McPhail - named for today's encounter were involved 12 months ago in the final.

Dollar Academy have not played a match since 24 November and will look to the likes of Caledonia under-17 squad members Lewis Brock and Scott Cubitt to lead from the front, while captain Adam Dearden is a dangerous back.
