Four birdies give Reid Dutch title

Melissa Reid sank four birdies in her final round of 70 to claim victory in the Deloitte Dutch Ladies Open by a single shot.

The Englishwoman began the day on one under, and coped well with the cool conditions in Vlaardingen to finish the tournament on three under overall.

Dropped shots on the sixth and 17th holes prevented Reid from pulling completely away, but her rivals ultimately fell short in their attempts to catch up. Caroline Afonso, Caroline Hedwall and overnight leader Holly Aitchison finished tied for second.

Frenchwoman Afonso made the greatest leap up the standings in the final round with a five-under 67, her only dropped shot coming on the tricky sixth green.

Hedwall of Sweden had six birdies and four bogeys in a topsy-turvy closing round of 70, while England's Aitchison - chasing her maiden European title - had a day to forget dropping five shots and holing a single birdie on the third for a four-over 76.

Wales' Tara Davies was among a group of three players tied for fifth on one under. Davies closed with a final round one-under 71 to finish alongside Diana Luna of Italy and Frenchwoman Anne-Lise Caudal.

Comrie teenager Carly Booth, after six missed cuts this season, was the best of the Scots after a final round 75 earned a share of 22nd place on four over par. Kylie Walker also made the cut and she finished on eight over after a final-day 74.
