Forres Mechanics lift Highland League Cup

FORRES Mechanics were last night toasting their first Highland League Cup success in eight years after beating Rothes 2-0 at Buckie Thistle's Victoria Park with goals in either half from Scott Moore and Matthew Fraser.

Forres manager Gordon Winton hopes yesterday's triumph can be a springboard to league success.

"Hopefully, this is just the start for us," he said. "We need more consistency in the league next season because we know we are capable of a challenge if we achieve that."

In the league, Cove Rangers finished second with a 2-0 home win over Fraserburgh, Robbie Henderson and Barrie Stephen scoring.
