Foreign round-up: Kenny Miller scores on first start to earn instant hero status with Bursaspor

KENNY MILLER is a hero in Turkey after netting for Bursaspor in his first start. The former Rangers ace scored the opener for the Turkish champions in a 2-0 win against ten-man Galatasaray. Miller, who completed his move from Rangers last week, opened the scoring after 37 minutes and Gokcek Wederson doubled the hosts' advantage on the stroke of half-time.

Gala had Ayhan Akman sent off after 64 minutes and could find no way back.

Miller said: "The important thing was not my goal, but the fact that we have closed the difference between us and the leaders.

In yesterday's Primera Liga action, Real Madrid's title hopes suffered a huge blow with a 1-0 defeat at Osasuna which left Jose Mourinho's side seven points adrift of leaders Barcelona, who won 3-0 at Hercules on Saturday - their 15th consecutive victory.

Gaizka Toquero scored both goals in Athletic Bilbao's 2-0 La Liga away win over 10-man Atletico Madrid yesterday to increase the pressure on home coach Quique Sanchez Flores.

Bilbao's frontman bagged his first goals of the season, volleying in unmarked just before the break and sliding in to double the lead in the 64th minute.

Atletico had been playing with 10 men from the 39th minute, when Luis Perea was harshly sent off after a clumsy challenge on Fernando Llorente in the area. The Spain striker fired the spot kick wide.

In Italy, substitute Giampaolo Pazzini scored twice and won a penalty on a dream debut as Serie A champions Inter Milan roared back from 2-0 down to beat visiting Palermo 3-2 in an enthralling encounter.

Inter found themselves trailing to first-half goals from Fabrizio Miccoli and Antonio Nocerino despite dominating. Pazzini, signed on Friday, was thrown on at the break and soon scored with a superb turn-and-shot before Palermo's Javier Pastore had a penalty saved by fit-again Julio Cesar.

Pazzini then planted a bullet header into the bottom corner from Maicon's free kick and Samuel Eto'o completed the victory from the spot.

Second-placed Napoli thrashed Sampdoria 4-0 with Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani netting another hat-trick as they cut the gap with leaders AC Milan back to four points. Milan won 2-0 at Catania on Saturday.

In Germany yesterday, Igor de Camargo's late goal gave Borussia Monchengladbach a 1-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga - and three points in their fight against relegation.

De Camargo scored in the 84th minute for the visitors, who had won just one of their last seven Bundesliga matches.They are still bottom of the table with 16 points - level with Stuttgart, who slumped to a 1-0 home defeat against Freiburg.

Frankfurt have still not scored a goal in 2011 and remain ninth on 26 points after a fourth defeat in five games.
