According to reports in the Scottish Sun, The Fire could tempt Maloney to Toyota Park with a lucrative deal in time for the start of the new season.

Maloney, who scored Scotland’s only goal as Gordon Strachan’s men registered a vital win over the Republic of Ireland in the Euro 2016 qualifiers, is out of contract in the summer at Wigan, and is in a strong bargaining position as a result.

The 31-year-old has been in top form for Wigan as well as his country, and is said to be keen on playing in the United States.

If Maloney joined Chicago Fire, he would be following in the footsteps of fellow Scots Kenny Miller (Vancouver Whitecaps); Kris Boyd (Portland Timbers) and Steven Caldwell (Toronto FC).
