Wick Academy extend unbeaten home record

WICK Academy maintained their early season title lead after a 3-0 victory over Fraserburgh – and preserved a 22-month home unbeaten run.

The Scorries were last beaten at home by Saturday’s visitors back in October 2010 and were in no mood for a repeat.

Richard MacAdie grabbed a double in the 14th and 26th minutes before David Allan pounced for the killer third on 32 minutes.

Challengers Formartine United swept aside Fort William 5-0 in Lochaber, with goals from Stuart Smith after 25 minutes and Cammy Keith two minutes before the break.

Daniel Park struck again after 56 minutes, Neil McVitie made it four 20 minutes from time and although Fort have shown signs of encouragement this season, they were left to suffer as Calum Bagshaw struck the last ten minutes from the end.

Brora Rangers kept up their pursuit with a slender victory over Buckie Thistle, ex-Caley Thistle man Zander Sutherland netting after 33 minutes.

Nairn County claimed their first win of the campaign, beating champions Cove Rangers 2-1 away.

Ryan Stott opened the scoring for Cove on ten minutes but Connor Gethins levelled on 63 minutes and three minutes later Andy Neill grabbed the winner.

Forres and Huntly drew 1-1, Lossiemouth and Clach produced a similar result, Inverurie Locos edged out visitors Turriff United after coming from behind to win 4-3 while Deveronvale climbed to fifth after an emphatic 4-0 win at home to Strathspey.
