The Premier Sports Cup quarter-finals get underway on Friday evening as Motherwell host Dundee United in an all-Premiership affair at Fir Park.
Neither side has had particularly smooth sailing through to the final eight of the competition with both having lost to lower league opposition in the group stages.

Hide AdUnited fell to a 2-0 defeat to Falkirk in their opening match before recovering with three straight victories over Stenhousemuir, Ayr United and Buckie Thistle to progress to the knock-out stages with nine points as one of the best placed group runners-up. Jim Goodwin’s side then overcame St Mirren in the last 16 with a Ross Graham goal securing a 1-0 win at Tannadice.
Motherwell also qualified for the last 16 with nine points but as group winners despite being held to draws by both Montrose and Partick Thistle, winning the former and losing the latter via penalty shoot-outs. The Steelmen’s group stage victories came against Edinburgh City and Clyde. Stuart Kettlewell’s men then booked their place in the quarter-finals thanks to a 1-0 home win over Kilmarnock in the previous round, with Moses Ebiye grabbing an extra-time winner.
The other quarter-final ties are scheduled to take place over the weekend with Aberdeen v The Spartans and Rangers v Dundee going ahead on Saturday, before Celtic host Falkirk on Sunday. All matches will be decided on the day with extra-time and penalties if required.

United boss Goodwin has a full squad to choose from with the exception of long-term absentee Ryan Strain.
