The league, forming the sixth and seventh tiers of the Scottish pyramid and made up predominantly of clubs who used to play in the juniors, kicked off the season in late October.

However, it was brought to a halt in January when all football below the Championship was stopped amid growing coronavirus cases.

With clubs having played so few games and no indicative return date, officials decided it would be impossible to fulfil enough fixtures to make the campaign worthwhile.

A statement read: “The board of the West of Scotland Football League have confirmed that following the statement by the First Minister yesterday, the remainder of the 2020/21 League football season has been cancelled and declared null and void.

“This decision will allow clubs to focus and to look forward and prepare for next season.”
