Vale put up stern resistance at Auchinleck

Vale took the lead after 24 minutes when Liam McKenna sent a low drive under goalkeeper Andy Leishman from a tight angle. Talbot equalised in the 38th minute when Keir Milliken slid in to poke the ball home at the back post. Three minutes into the second half Auchinleck were in front after Michael McCann’s header flew high into the net.

Vale came agonisingly close to getting themselves back into the match as a Steve Radzynski piledriver drew a superb diving save from Leishman, and a minute later Andy Martin hit the bar with a shot from the edge of the area. But the West Region Juniors made sure of their place in the Fourth Round in the 63rd minute when Bryan Young’s shot eluded the fingertips of Wilson at the far post.
