Tynecastle to host crucial Scotland Under-21 qualifier

TYNECASTLE will stage Scotland Under-21s' vital European Championship qualifier against Macedonia in September.

The Scottish Football Association are using Hearts’ home for the match on Friday, September 2, to generate a good atmosphere for what is a vital qualifying tie.

Scotland sit fourth in Group Three and realistically must beat the Macedonians in their final home fixture to maintain hope of reaching next summer’s finals in Poland.

Hearts players including goalkeeper Jack Hamilton, wingers Sam Nicholson and Billy King, plus defenders Jordan McGhee and John Souttar are all likely to be involved on the night.

Ricky Sbragia, the Scotland Under-21 coach, said: “I’m delighted we’ll be playing this important match at Tynecastle Stadium.

“Hearts have supplied us with a lot of players for the Under-21 team over the duration of our qualifying campaign, so it is fitting that we play our final home match at Tynecastle.

“The stadium lends itself to a great atmosphere and I hope that fans from around the country will come along and support the team in what is a pivotal match in our bid to reach the finals.”
