Tynecastle 15s survive scare to see off Oxgangs in final

tynecastle 15s beat AC Oxgangs 3-0 in the SERYFA Federation of Hearts Supporters Clubs Cup final under the floodlights at Tynecastle Stadium.

Manager Simon Kinghorn was happy overall with his team’s triumph but admitted there was an untidiness in his players’ performances that so easily could have been punished.

He said: “I thought we played quite well and rode our luck at 1-0 with giving the ball away and generally being quite slack. They probably should have equalised so we got away with it but we added another two goals in the second half.”

Tynecastle took the lead after ten minutes when Matthew Graham’s cross from the left wing was headed in by Jason Kerr.

Tynecastle added a second shortly after the break, with Kerr again on hand to nod home Calum Cowan’s cross from close range. The match was dead and buried straight from the restart as Tynecastle’s Jaimie Purves added the third when he slotted home after Kyle Mitchell’s shot was parried by Sean Gilligan.
