Tokely ready to fight for place

Inverness defender Ross Tokely is determined to stay and fight for his place at the Caledonian Stadium.

Tokely has made nearly 500 appearances since joining from Huntly in 1996 and is out of contract in the summer.

The 33-year-old does not want this afternoon’s Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash against Hibernian to be his farewell match, but he will not be content to sit on the bench next season.

Asked if he was hopeful of remaining at the Caledonian Stadium, Tokely said: “Yeah, we have got a few things to discuss and we’ll see. At my age I’m not wanting to be on the bench, or a squad player.

“I don’t think I have the divine right to start every week but I should definitely get the chance to do that and if not then I’ll look to get out and play somewhere else. I’ll definitely fight for my place. If I’m not going to be a regular it won’t be for me next year.”

Caley Thistle have not beaten Hibs this season and will today look to avoid a third straight defeat at home to Pat Fenlon’s men.
