The trio, who were key players as Aberdeen finished third in the Scottish Premiership and won the League Cup, will be at Pittodrie until next summer.

Dons boss Derek McInnes said: “All three have made important contributions to the season just finished and I’m looking for them to play their part in the progression of the club next season.”

Meanwhile, Josh Magennis, who spent the second half of the season on loan at St Mirren; goalkeeper Nicky Weaver and striker Scott Vernon - who scored a hat-trick in Aberdeen’s penultimate match in a 4-2 win over Dundee United - will not be offered new contracts.

Swansea City defender Alan Tate has returned to the Welsh side after his loan spell ended.

The future of on-loan Brentford defender Shaleum Logan is also unclear, with the 26-year-old former Manchester City player’s contract at Griffin Park up at the end of the month.
