Three and easy for dominant Tynecastle

Tynecastle 3 Leith Athletic 0

LEITH should have taken the lead after Euan Campbell was through on John Gilbertson, who made an excellent save in the Tynecastle goal. Radzynski, Duthie and Beaton all went close as the first half became the Gilbertson show thanks to his excellent saves.

In the second half it was Tynecastle who got the unlikely breakthrough when a free-kick by Paul Devlin was glanced past Gordon in the Leith goal by Brian Foster.

Leith failed to take their chances and Mark Duthie and Euan Campbell both should have scored.

Tynecastle went up the other end and Wayne Sproule was upended in the box by Neil Ewart. Referee David Somers pointed to the spot, and Paul Devlin smashed the ball home. Leith went three up front and this let Sproule have acres of space down the right side and it was his cross that fell to Gary McCormack who slotted home from close range. By this point Tynecastle were dominating and should have got a few more.
