Third Division round-up: Wood the catalyst in Montrose win

MONTROSE recorded a 2-0 win at home to Peterhead whilst Clyde sealed a valuable away win to gain some leeway at the bottom of the table.

Montrose 2, Peterhead 0

Garry Wood was instrumental in steering Montrose to a 2-0 victory over Peterhead at Links Park as his side leapfrogged the visitors.

The Montrose striker slotted home a fourth-minute opener before teeing up Terry Masson to double the hosts’ advantage 11 minutes later.

Annan Athletic 1, Clyde 3

Bryan Gilfillan headed Clyde’s opener and David Marsh soon added a second before Annan’s Graeme Ramage missed a penalty.

After Clyde’s Marsh and Annan’s Steve Swinglehurst were dismissed Gilfillan’s strike killed off Clyde, Scott Chaplain netting a consolation.
